About us
Hej! We are Andreas and Antonette and this summer we’d like to share our passion for the mountains with you. We are based in the beautiful mountains surrounding Hemavan, a mountain village in northwestern Västerbotten in Swedish Lapland.
Our town is mostly known for skiing and being the southern entrance to the famous Kungsleden trail. However, there is plenty more to discover in our region. Did you know that the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve is one of the biggest nature reserves in Europe? And that there are not just moose and reindeer roaming the lands, but you may also run into bears, arctic foxes and golden eagles?
Let us guide you through our beautiful backyard, off the beaten path where only very few other tourists have ever been before.
Our story
In the summer of ’22 Antonette was living out of an old Volvo and driving through Sweden to write her guidebook. She ran into Andreas at the Naturum Vindelfjällen, inquiring about a river crossing up in the nature reserve she wanted to attempt. They talked briefly and she mentioned she hoped to see the northern lights. The next few days, the northern lights danced above her tent and when she posted the picture on Instagram, Andreas found it and followed her. Although she had by then already started her way back down south, they kept in touch via Instagram over the next year. Antonette was hiking Te Araroa in New Zealand and via the messenger they occasionally stayed in touch. When Antonette returned to Sweden one year later, she invited Andreas to come along camping on Stekenjokk, a big mountain plateau near Sweden’s highest paved road. The rest is history.

About Andreas
Born in Gällivare, at an early age Andreas discovered his passion for the outdoors. During his childhood he spent all of his free time outdoors, fishing and hiking in the summer and skiing under the northern lights in winter time. His job at Naturum Vindelfjällen Visitors Center led him to Hemavan sixteen years ago. As a biologist he has extensive knowledge about the mountain flora and fauna. He also was the constructor of Lapplandsleden, a new long distance hike in the north of Sweden. He has longtime experience guiding people through local caves, the botanical garden and activities with kids of any age. He has explored every possible corner of Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve during his time as a ranger, when he did predator and arctic fox inventory.
Andreas is our main guide and is fluent in English and Swedish, but can also understand and speak limited German and Dutch.
About Antonette
Born and raised in The Netherlands, Antonette knew from an early age that she wanted to explore the world. After finishing her degree in tourism management, she made long worldwide journeys where she discovered her passion for hiking and the outdoors. After working in the tourism industry for 15 years, she left her office job in 2017 to become a full time traveler and writer. She has always had a passion for Nordic destinations and knew that one day she would move up north. In the summer of 2023, she bought a house in South Lappland and has called Sweden her home since. She has ample experience guiding women through nature and teaching them more about safety and security while entering the outdoors.
Antonette is our marketing manager and will also be guiding some of our tours. She is fluent in Dutch, English and German, is learning Swedish and has a basic knowledge of French and Spanish.
